The architect Bohuslav Fuchs designed a café for Josef Zeman (demolished 1964, replica built 1995) in 1925 in Koliště park. The structure was designed as an integrated construction organism with harmonically arranged space and balanced volumes and surfaces. The relationship between the interior and the exterior, enhanced by large retractable windows, was of importance allowing the surrounding greenery to “penetrate” into the interior. Café Zeman is viewed as the first Functionalist structure not only in Brno, but in Czechoslovakia as a whole.
