On Wednesday 21 November 2012, world-renowned Czech architect and designer Eva Jiřičná lectured at the Villa Tugendhat. A lecture on "Architecture laced with glass and steel – from design to practical experience" took place as part of a presentation by KNAUF on contemporary lifestyle technologies. The Faculty of Civil Engineering in Brno was the expert guarantor of the event.
Eva Jiřičná was born in Zlín. She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Prague, where she also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Jaroslav Frágner’s studio.
Since 1968 she has been living in London where she worked in the studio of Louis de Soisson on a port project in Brighton. Then she started to collaborate with the famous architect Richard Rogers.
She is well known for her interiors of London and New York fashion stores and boutiques. She has her own design studio in Prague (AI Design Praha) and London (Eva Jiricna Architects). Since 1996 she is professor and head of the Department of Architecture at the University of Applied Arts in Prague.
