On Monday, 2 March 2015, Brno and the Villa Tugendhat was visited by a distinguished Japanese architect Masaharu Takasaki, a professor of Art and Design at Kyoto University and honorary member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, collaborator of Peter Cook and a number of professors at the universities in Stuttgart and Graz. He held a lecture at the Faculty of Architecture, BUT Brno at 4 o'clock on the same day.
Masaharu Takasaki is one of the most original Japanese architects and is the author of several highly unusual buildings across Japan. His work is not only without comparison in such widely diverse field as Japanese architecture, but even in contemporary architecture. Takasaki’s designs combine organic and mythological elements. Currently, Masaharu Takasaki contributes with his designs to the restoration of the ruined housing destroyed by a major earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident in 2011.
