French Inspirations

The first year of concerts in the Villa Tugendhat which premiered on International Music Day, 21 June 2012, met with unprecedented success by the audience. Villa Tugendhat in cooperation with the Brno Contemporary Orchestra will follow up this year with a new programme,  subtitled French Inspirations.

The prepared programme is dedicated to authors inspired by France, who came from elsewhere. Visitors can look forward to the rarely played mechanical ballet Curious Flight by Bohuslav Martinů, or the famous homage to Honegger by Yuri Kasparov, a still living composer of Armenian origin. Probably for the first time in the Czech Republic, Herodias, a melodrama will be played, by Paul Hindemith, one of the most important German composers of the first half of the 20th century with a poem text written by Stéphane Mallarmé.

All concerts will take place in the  “glass room” of Villa Tugendhat.
