About The Chilean Project
The Chilean Project was originally formed as a support band for distinguished international soloists who visited Chile. Artists such as Randy Brecker, Frank Gambale and Billy Cobham were able to verify its quality. The formation then launched its solo project in New York in 2016 with the recording of its first disc "Live at The Blue Note". Over the next five years, the group performed in countless Chilean clubs and festivals, the most important of which was a concert at the Rosita Renard Festival in Pirque in March 2021, the last time the musicians would ever play together. Two weeks later, legendary trumpeter and beloved band member Crtistián Cuturrufo succumbed to Covid-19.
Cristián's favourite line was: "keep going, there’s fun ahead", and in this spirit the band has continued, together with saxophonist Marcos Aldana, to pay a musical tribute to Cuturruf and also to continue to spread and develop their great passion, jazz, and to share it with Chilean and international audiences.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Chile as part of the DIRAC 2020 cultural projects.
