On Monday 23 June 2014 the Villa Tugendhat turned into a film set for the last part of a television series A Czech Century, titled Let Them Go. The cycle is produced by Czech Television based on a script written by Pavel Kosatík and directed by Robert Sedláček. It surveys milestone moments of modern history of Czechoslovakia, from its establishment in 1918 until the break-up into two independent states in 1992. The final part of the cycle that follows these events will be aired on Czech television this autumn.
The two and a half hour conversation between Václav Klaus and Vladimír Mečiar in the garden of the Villa Tugendhat in August 1992, which led to the signing of the agreement on the division of Czechoslovakia, belongs according to the cycle director Robert Sedláček to one of the most mysterious meetings in modern Czech history.
The role of Václav Klaus was played by Jaroslav Plesl, actor from Dejvické Theatre, the role of Vladimír Mečiar by Slovak actor Marek Ťapák.
