A discussion with designers Jaroslav Juřica and Michal Riabič about their designs for TON, respect for traditional technique, and the present forms of furniture made from bent beech wood. Moderated by Dagmar Koudelková.
Jaroslav Juřica
Graduated from the Furniture Secondary School in Bystřice pod Hostýnem and Sculpture Department, Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno. Thanks to an Ingvar Kamprad scholarship he also studied at the School of Industrial Design at Lund University in Sweden. He focuses on furniture and product design. His design of the 002 chair for TON won the Interior Innovation Award in Germany.
Michal Riabič
Graduate in graphic design at VŠUV in Bratislava, since 2012 the art director of the company TON, responsible for the design and development of new items. His designs of the Wave rocking chair and Mojo spring wooden chairs for TON have been awarded many Czech and foreign awards.
Dagmar Koudelková
Art historian, a graduate of Art History at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno. She focuses on the history of bentwood furniture, metal tubular furniture, housing culture of the inter-war and post-war and on contemporary design.
