An awards ceremony of the 20th annual competition which showcases the best architectural works of the previous year in the Czech Republic, the National Architecture Award, was held at the National Gallery in Prague on 24 April 2013. Villa Tugendhat was awarded this prestigious award in the reconstruction category.

The Architecture Grand Prix - National Architecture Award is annually organized by the Society of Architects and the Czech Chamber of Architects. This year it registered a total of 70 implemented projects in 7 categories, the Reconstruction category included 14 buildings. The expert jury consisted of five members from both the Czech Republic and abroad.

Evaluation of the jury:
"This is a second project, which woke up a great discussion. It is not easy to distinguish the qualities brought by reconstruction from the qualities of the original building. The jury, which had unanimously expressed some skepticism originally about the presence of such an icon of Modern Architecture in the competing Category of Reconstruction (R), changed its mind after learning about the vicissitudes of that house and the very careful and rigorous process of rehabilitation undertaken by the Architects. The prize was awarded mainly for the exemplary and difficult research that had been an integral part of the project, and without which we couldn’t have thought about such result. "
