Adolf Loos designed a villa in Hrušovany near Brno for the renowned Brno industrialist Viktor Bauer in 1914. The villa for the director of the sugar refinery, practically standing on the grounds of the factory, is viewed as the first structure with a flat roof within the territory of the future Czechoslovak Republic. Loos' authorship is also probable for the case of the main factory building (at least its façades) from 1916-22.
